Surespan SRH/DL double leaf roof access hatches are manufactured in aluminium with an optional polyester powder coated finish. Each SRH is insulated to maintain the thermal integrity of the building.
The gas spring assisted opening lid is supported by heavy-duty aluminium hinges and features an integral 'wrap over' edge, incorporating double unbroken EPDM seals. The upstand has a purpose made flashing to accept the roof felt to make it weatherproof. The hatch also incorporates a safety hold open stay to prevent against accidental closure. Various locking options are available.

All Surespan SRH/DL Roof Hatches are offered with a cost option using thermally broken extruded sections, offering clients excellent energy conservation properties and substantially reducing internal condensation or frost formation.
This in turn reduces thermal conductivity and consequently the heat loss due to heat conduction through the roof hatch frame.
This can also be applied to Surespan's SRHG Roof Hatches.
All Surespan electrically operated roof hatches are available using solar technology, offering clients an environmentally friendly alternative.
A 12V solar panel is fitted either onto or nearby the roof hatch, harnessing solar energy to charge it's batteries and allowing the hatch to automatically open and close using a completely wireless system. This can be operated by either a wireless switch or remote control. It's batteries are fitted with a conditioned monitoring feature which sounds an alarm if they are running low or indicate a fault.
Additional options including being linked up to the building's Fire Alarm System (FAS) or Building Management System (BMS) are available. Multiple roof hatches can be operated by one solar panel.
This technology can also be applied to Surespan's SRHG glazed roof hatches.
SRH/DL Double Leaf Roof Hatches can be manufactured with a fixed rain channel and non sequenced opening.
National Oil Well needed to manoeuvre large and heavy items of plant in/out of the building. There was insufficient space and head room for internal lifting equipment.
Surespan designed and supplied an electrically operated, double leaf roof hatch allowing crane access through the roof.
Charles Barclay Architects commissioned Surespan to design and build two sets of hatch doors for the roof and the front of the Observatory's two rotating turrets.
Electrically operated using a remote control via 24v DC actuators, the hatch doors are specially designed to open in a specific sequence.

Surespan hatches are designed to offer a high level of thermal insulation against heat loss and condensation. U-Value of 0.43W/m²K is available.
All Surespan access covers are available polyester powder coated to any standard RAL colour.
Surespan access covers can be rated for 90 minutes fire resistance for integrity to BS476: part 22: 1987.
Surespan hatches can be designed to offer excellent sound reduction of 45db Rw, measured in accordance with ISO 140-3: 1995 and rated in accordance with ISO 717-1: 1997.
Surespan access covers are now available with a BioCote finish. BioCote is a specially formulated powder coating, with all attributes of conventional powders plus the ability to inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria that contact the surface. www.biocote.com
