Bentley Motors

Surespan proudly contributed to Bentley Motors' ambitious initiative to cement its status as the world’s most sustainable luxury automotive manufacturer, with the construction of its new Launch Quality Centre and Engineering Technical Centre.

This cutting-edge facility, situated at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England, represents a pivotal advancement in the company’s strategy, especially in preparing for the production of Battery-Powered Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

With a significant investment of £35 million, the facility is a testament to Bentley’s commitment to setting new standards in next-generation, digital, flexible, and high-value manufacturing operations.

In support of this landmark project, Surespan supplied several SRHPE/75 Aluminium thermally broken roof hatches, tailored to meet the specific needs of this state-of-the-art development. These included a bespoke model measuring 3300 x 750mm and another at 1200 x 1200mm, both equipped with a 75mm insulation that achieves an impressive U-value of 0.26 W/m²K, ensuring optimal thermal efficiency. Operated by 24v DC actuators, these electrically powered, single-leaf hatches provide easy and secure access, essential for the maintenance and operational efficiency of the facility.

Each hatch features a 300mm upstand and is insulated with high-quality Kingspan material, further enhancing their thermal performance. The aluminium construction, paired with a standard curb liner, ensures durability and longevity, vital attributes for the infrastructure of a leading automotive manufacturer like Bentley. The operation of these hatches is facilitated by the SP 1185/C Control Panel, designed for single-leaf access hatches with two synchronised actuators, ensuring smooth and reliable operation. This system includes a battery backup for uninterrupted functionality, alongside IP66 rated SP1161A-EXT-IP66 external key switches, providing an additional layer of security and control.

Surespan’s involvement in Bentley’s new facility underscores our capability to deliver bespoke access solutions that align with the innovative and sustainable ethos of our clients. By providing products that blend seamlessly with high-value manufacturing environments, we contribute to Bentley’s vision of leading the luxury automotive sector into a sustainable future. This project highlights Surespan’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, reinforcing our role as a key player in the enhancement of global manufacturing infrastructures.
