Surespan Exi-Vent system chosen to enhance a French Vineyard
Leading manufacturers of safe access and escape solutions Surespan was initially approached to present a combined solution, consisting of smoke ventilation with a means of access, whilst also allowing light transmission.
The Vineyard had recently been sold to new owners, who showed ambition to redevelop areas to help improve wine tourism facilities through activities such as private tours and wine tasting.
Upon reviewing drawings and continuous collaboration between the customer and Surespan’s sales & technical team. The project opened up to be for a Château Petit-Village Vineyard, which produces a very popular range of red wine, located on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux wine region.
Following a thorough review with the Sales and Technical teams at Surespan, the client was encouraged to see the glazed Exi-Vent model presented, a turn-key solution, which met and exceeded their original specification.
The Exi-Vent features a part 140-degree opening smoke ventilation, tested and certified in accordance with EN12101-02, and part electrically operated access hatch. The two parts are designed to allow independent operation with key switches positioned both internally and externally. Polyester powder coated to RAL 9010, to provide a clean aesthetic.
Situated within an area that gets optimum exposure to the sun, it was important that the glass specification was aligned to achieve specific solar properties. After consulting with Pilkington and the client, it was concluded that the top pane of the double-glazed unit was to be of 40/22 ‘Pilkington Insulight Sun’ glazing; offering a U-Value of 1.1 W/m²K and G-Value of 0.23.
