Surespan were approached to manufacture a bespoke roof access solution for a block of luxury offices and apartments in Putney Bridge Road, London. The boxed glazed sliding rooflights with a glazed vertical upstand were designed to fit a structural opening of 1000 x 3075. The sliding lid was operated electrically via concealed 24v DC actuators and a push button switch.
Supplied to California State University, USA. This 3302 (130″) x 1016mm (40″) solid top electrically operated thermally broken sliding hatch travels its length on tracks fixed to the roof.
Surespan manufactured and supplied a double glazed access hatch for use on a private residential apartment in downtown San Francisco. The 915 (36”) x 4115 (162”) hatch was electrically operated for easy operation and allowed easy access to the roof deck for Al Fresco dining in the Californian sun.

Surespan supplied a number of circular dome rooflights with triple layers to The Key, situated in the new Science Central development at Newcastle University. These large 1500 (49”) and 2000 (79”) diameter polycarbonate domes feature triple layers providing a U-value of 1.8 W/m²K.

The three leaf hatch – which measures 6 x 3 metres – can take up to 5kN/m² loading. It has an electric actuator opening which can be activated remotely and is fire rated for up to two hours.
Surespan recently travelled to Lithuania to manufacture and supply a floor hatch to enable Finnish energy company Fortum to access their biomass pit at their new energy plant. The 5000 x 5000 mm hydraulically operated, double leaf hatch was designed to be easily operated by an electrically driven pump power pack.

Surespan has manufactured and supplied a series of fire escape hatches at Portugal’s new €950 million underground Metro in Porto. The huge double leaf hatches automatically open if the fire alarm system is activated to allow passengers safe exit to ground level.
