Known as the “Diamond in the Desert,” Education City Stadium stands as a masterpiece of modern architectural innovation, where geometric precision meets sustainable design. Specified by leading architects and engineers for this prestigious project, Surespan was selected to provide critical access solutions that would complement the stadium’s ambitious design and operational requirements. Our contribution centered on the supply of eight SRHE/75/TB aluminum roof access hatches, each precisely engineered to fit structural openings of 4000 x 1400mm.
These thermally broken, electrically operated hatches were specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of Qatar’s climate while maintaining the stadium’s exceptional sustainability standards. Each unit features a double-skinned aluminum lid operated by synchronized 24V DC actuators, incorporating 75mm thick CFC and HCFC-free Polyisocyanurate insulation, achieving an impressive U-Value of 0.26 W/m²K.
The installation included sophisticated control systems for each access point, complete with battery backup capabilities ensuring continuous operation even during power interruptions. The hatches were finished in RAL9010 ‘White’ polyester powder coating, seamlessly integrating with the stadium’s architectural aesthetic while providing superior durability in the challenging desert environment.
Our involvement in this prestigious project aligns perfectly with Education City Stadium’s broader legacy. As a venue that achieved a five-star GSAS rating and incorporated over 55% sustainable materials in its construction, our thermally efficient access solutions contribute to the stadium’s outstanding environmental performance.
