London Heathrow

Heathrow is the UK’s busiest airport and one of the world’s most connected hub airports, handling very high passenger volumes and operating in a highly constrained, operationally demanding environment.

Surespan supported Heathrow works by supplying access solutions aligned to airport maintenance requirements, where secure access, predictable operation and robust detailing are essential to support live terminal operations and roof or service zone access.

Scope of supply

Surespan supplied access products suitable for airport environments, typically including roof access solutions and associated access components specified to support controlled maintenance access and long-term durability.

Key considerations

Airport projects require access points that coordinate with roof waterproofing systems and operational security requirements, supported by clear documentation for approvals and contractor coordination. Products are commonly specified with secure locking, assisted operation where required, and robust weathering performance aligned to the roof build-up.

Outcome

Surespan’s supply supported safe and maintainable access across a live airport environment, helping project teams deliver practical maintenance access solutions aligned to long-term operational needs.

South Clyde Energy Centre

Surespan supplied a bespoke hydraulically operated double-leaf access cover package for the South Clyde Energy Centre, a major Energy-from-Waste facility under construction in Glasgow.
