For this iconic project, Surespan was tasked with supplying bespoke access solutions aligned with the stadium’s innovative design and stringent safety requirements. We delivered an extensive array of SLH/50 thermally broken, aluminium, single leaf, manually operated sliding roof access hatches. These were specifically designed to fit a structural opening of 1900 x 1100mm, with the lids engineered to slide along the length (1900mm) on runners installed on the roof. This design choice ensured that the access hatches would seamlessly integrate with the stadium’s sophisticated roof structure, providing essential access with minimal aesthetic disruption.
A key feature of our solution was the inclusion of the Surespan ‘SureGuard’ system, which adds an extra layer of safety to the roof access points. This system comprises a permanent double-line guard rail, standing 850mm high and surrounding all four sides of each hatch. Additionally, it includes a spring-loaded gate, further enhancing safety for maintenance staff and operational personnel by preventing accidental falls.
