Red Sea Project

Surespan was selected to contribute to The Red Sea Project, an ambitious luxury tourism initiative by The Red Sea Development Company in Saudi Arabia. This project stands as a cornerstone of Saudi Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the nation's economy beyond oil.

Encompassing over 90 untouched islands along with desert and mountain landscapes, the project is set to redefine luxury tourism by integrating eco-friendly hotels, resorts, and spas that blend seamlessly with the natural environment.

With a strong emphasis on sustainability, The Red Sea Project is committed to making a positive impact on the environment and local communities, while offering adventure activities and cultural experiences that celebrate Saudi heritage. By 2030, it is expected to generate over 70,000 jobs and contribute approximately SAR 22 billion (US$5.8 billion) to Saudi Arabia’s GDP.

For this visionary project, Surespan supplied an extensive array of SRH/FR Fire Rated Roof Hatches, model SRH/TB/FR60, each measuring 1300 x 900mm. These hatches are designed with a 300mm upstand and equipped with LO1, LO2, and LO4 locking mechanisms, ensuring security and ease of access. The incorporation of mineral wool insulation and mill finish aluminium, alongside a thermally broken lid and upstand, exemplifies our commitment to delivering products that not only meet but exceed energy efficiency and safety standards. Each hatch features an external kerb liner as standard, enhancing the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the installation.

Critically, the hatches are fire rated for up to 240 minutes, having been rigorously tested to EN 1634-4 standards and certified by UL-EU for up to 4 hours of fire resistance from the underside. This certification underscores the hatches’ ability to provide paramount safety in the event of a fire. Additionally, the gas spring assisted opening mechanism allows for easy operation, opening up to 85° for convenient access, while the double unbroken EPDM seal ensures a weather-tight seal, protecting against the elements.

Finished with a polyester powder coating, these hatches are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, designed to complement the luxury and eco-friendly ethos of The Red Sea Project. Surespan’s involvement in this project highlights our expertise in providing high-quality, durable access solutions that support the principles of sustainability and luxury. Through our participation, we demonstrate our capability to meet the complex needs of significant global tourism projects, reinforcing our position as a leader in the access products industry. This case study exemplifies our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence, contributing to the legacy of The Red Sea Project as the world’s most ambitious luxury tourism destination.
