Performance Standards

Custom Sized

Each hatch can be manufactured to your required dimensions for a precise fit with the roof opening and project specification.

Thermally Broken

The lid and upstand are thermally broken as standard to support improved thermal performance across the assembly.

Fire Performance

Fire resistance for up to 4 hours, tested to documented EN fire-test standards. These documented European fire-test results can be reviewed against North American project requirements and AHJ expectations for review against project fire-strategy and AHJ requirements.

External Curb Liner

An external curb liner is fitted as standard to accommodate a wide range of hot-applied or cold-applied roofing and weatherproofing materials.

What finish options are available?

Available finish options include aluminum, stainless steel, polyester powder coating in single-color or dual-color RAL finishes, and anodized aluminum.

How is the fire rated roof hatch insulated?

The hatch is insulated with 50 mm non-combustible mineral wool only, with a thermal performance of 0.63 W/m2K. This helps support fire-rated construction while maintaining temperature control within the building envelope.

What locking options are available?

Available locking configurations include:

LO4: External padlockable handle with toggle latch and internal cablock.
LO6: European deadlock with internal thumbturn and external keyed access, supplied with a non-locking external handle.
LO7: European deadlock with keyed locking internally and externally, supplied with a non-locking external handle.

Do you provide approval drawings?

Yes. Surespan can provide detailed approval drawings, including submittal drawings in both PDF and DWG formats, to support coordination and specification on your project.

Safety Products

Our SureGuard handrail system improves user safety on roof access hatches. It features a custom-sized permanent three-sided handrail fixed to the hatch upstand, together with a spring-loaded self-closing side gate. Available in any RAL color with a durable polyester powder-coated finish, it adds a higher level of safety and usability at the roof access point.

Ladder Access

Our roof access products can be configured for multiple ladder types to suit the building layout and access strategy. Standard vertical ladders provide direct access, while companionway or ship ladders offer a more comfortable climbing angle. ZIP retractable ladders support compact spaces by folding away when not in use.
